Market,

10 min walk from Sta Ana there is the Agdao Public Market. It gets very hot during the day; we used to go early in the morning.

Lots of vegetables, fruits, meat and life stock can be found. The way back can be made by bus.
Behind the market is the General Warehouse. This one is not air-conditioned, and is like Super Cheap in Phuket for the familiars.

Shooting,
Opposite is the Gold Cup shooting range. You can hire a gun and buy ammunition. I used to do a lot of shooting in Switzerland and I was curios what is left after 10 years break. I hired a 45ACP calibre and got all the 50 rounds in the target (max distance in the range is 15m). It was easy considering that I was used to shoot at 50m and not the same calibre, it was 22LR. There are several gun shops in town; you need a licence to buy one.

Rubber factory,

Leaving the market we found a rubber factory. From old tires, they cut out what ever you need. It goes from a single bushing to a shock absorber and clutch damper, you mention it. We talked to the owner a very jovial person. It seems to be a good business.

Fire brigade,

Walking around, we picked up green fire trucks. From what I know they are usually red. As I was taking pictures, as a man approached to talk to us. He explained us that he is part of the volunteer brigade.

They have 24/7 standby. There is an other one, the Chinese Fire Brigade their trucks are white. Davao has a professional fire brigade. We discovered the smallest intervention vehicle on our way to the hospital.

Around.

Samal Island

From Sta Ana wharf you can take a Green bus called Island City Express and for 25 P you get on Samal Island. The price includes the ferry. The ferry terminal is by the commercial harbour. On the NE part of the island is a marin

a project going on.

Philippine Eagle Center.

It’s a nice day escape from the city. The place is about one hour drive out of the city. To get there you can take a taxi; think about the way back, or public transportation. From the Annil Terminal

located at the corner Quirino/St Pedro extension St, take the bus to Calinan (every 15mn). From there is a 10mn ride with the Pedi cab to PEC.
To get to the PEC, Davao City water district will charge you P 5.00 and the entrance fee to the centre is P 50.00 for and adult. The centre is open every day form 08.00 AM to 05.00 PM.

At the entrance we met Zoë young python, very shy.

We also met the crocodile. He’s huge! At least 5 to 6 m long. When you see him first, you think it’s a fake in plastic. Ones you see his tongue going back and forth by the breathing you realise he’s real.
