One of the major reason to come to Whangarei was to empty the storage of 42 banana boxes of stuff I take out of my first yacht Capirosca in 2001. First we were looking to send them to Thailand.
After inquiry on Internet, it came out that it was not worth the effort. You can import in Thailand private items duty free, but the paper work is tremendous and then you have a dead line to bring the stuff in, and was not matching with our sailing plans. Costs would have been higher then the value of the goods. 20th of February the marina organized a swap sail. You expose what you have to sell and maybe you are lucky. We did well, and sent the money to Pui’s family. That was much easier and more fun.
