NZ, March 2010, Waiheke

March 20th we made our way to Waiheke Island, to visit our friends Patrick and Rosie. The hot summer days where over and Pui was taking precautions to survive the coming cold winter.
Waiheke is located 35 minutes ferry trip East of Auckland. Patrick offered to drive us to the airport on March 25 for Pui to catch the plain to fly home.

The Island has vineyards, produces very good white and red vines. It’s looking like the vineyards in Switzerland, small parcels suspended up the hills, in stoning landscapes.

Patrick is from France, Rosie from NZ. I met them first time in 2000 in Whangarei on the yacht Nakoni when I had Capirosca.

Patrick brought some French culture on the Island. Together with Rosie every Saturday at the market, they sell savory and flavory crêpes you can taste at “la crêpe maison”.

The market brings together the artists of the Island who expose and sell their products. Carving, pottery, bread, vegetables, jams specialties, pastry, etc. and also Attractions for the kids.
