Welcome back to Asia. The streets are crowded with people very curious asking for your name, where you come from. Lots of motorbikes and mini buses horn continually that makes you dizzy. We went to see Quarantine and Harbormaster mid afternoon. There is no Immigration in Saumlaki. 2 people came on board; opened some cupboards, we filled papers and finally got free practice on Indonesian soil. I drove them back to the office in the dingy.
As we needed some cash, I looked around for the ATM machine, unfortunately didn’t have the “Plus” option. I changed some € at the Chinese hardware store “Sumbek Technik” close to the ATM. We got 10’500 INR for 1 €. There is a lot of zeros to deal with.
Next day we met the quarantine officer to pay 2 times INR 55’000.00 (€ ± 10.00) for I don’t know what and got not invoice. It's quite common in Asia.
Then we went to the harbormaster to get the clearance for Bali cost free. There many shops around and you can find what you are looking for.
On the way back we stopped at the market for buy some fresh stuff.
In the late afternoon we had a dinner with the Dingo family from Holland (Martin, Dirma, Boaz 4 years old boy and twins Joël and Daniël 2 years old boy) at the Arapan Indah Hotel. The service was so slow that we mist the tide and had to wait next morning to get back to the boats. We decided to share a family room at the hotel for the night. The cost for a family room with 3 double beds was INR 385’000.00, breakfast included.
On the way to Alor Island, we stopped behind a small Island 5 miles from Saumlaki and dropped the anchor in crystal clear water.
We joined Dingo and decided to sail together.
