To organize a new Swiss passport, you have to make an application thru Internet on the dedicated URL. For this application to succeed, your personal data’s must be registered in the “system”.
Than you are invited to make an appointment in an Embassy (of your choice) to have your biometric data’s taken (Switzerland joined the club of biometric passports in March 2010 “Sig”). From there, they say it takes 1 month to process the new passport.
Now, what happens if you’re not registered in the system?
Easy, you get no answer, and it was my case.
Consulates are not qualified to issue new passports. They explained me that I have to approach my town of origin to have my data’s put in the system.
I got the details from a friend in Switzerland, approached my town of origin to proceed. After 3 attempts at three different places, they answered me that it’s the Embassy who has to make the request.
Singapore being on our way to Thailand, I approached them. They gave me the right URL to apply for an extract of my personal data’s that have to be sent to a Swiss address because they are 25.- CHF to pay, and then have them sent to the Embassy in Singapore, to be processed.
My friend’s daughter Myriam (he was in Holyday at the time) kindly followed the situation and made it for the documents to arrive in Singapore. The letter was sent July 28th 2010, 4 days after we left NC.
To achieve this I was for 3 weeks mornings and evening’s on the Internet.
What else did we do? . . . Oh yes!
